Chinook S.p.a., a leader in the distribution and sale of components for the vast air compressor assembly market, can claim to be reference point in the sector.
With a staff of around 120 persons, Chinook is a constantly expanding commercial and production hub that turns out more than 160,000 compressors with a forecast gradual increase in sales so as to achieve ever more ambitious, significant objectives.

Chinook is a dynamic, efficient company. Since 1999, following the merger with Shamal S.r.l., it operates through two production divisions: the Chinook division that produces bare pumps for compressors and the Shamal division which turns out a vast range of air compressors.
Backed by this renewed, consolidated administrative structure, the company is able to respond effectively to the growing demand of the domestic market which absorbs 25% of its production and, more particularly, can cater to all export requirements, which account for 75% of the company's output.
While addressing all market segments with a full selection of products, a full range of piston and screw type air compressors, with power ratings from 0.7 kW to 160 kW (1 Hp -220 Hp), divided into various areas (medical, co-axial, piston, screw, cast iron series and aluminum series), Chinook is particularly strong in the industrial sector.

In the 1990's, particular attention was dedicated to developing the sales network with excellent results promoted by the company's winning strategy of establishing long-term relationships with leading, well-entrenched importers/distributors in no less than 102 countries worldwide. For Chinook, the new millennium promises to be packed with innovations and new ideas, in a search to assure complete satisfaction of the growing demands of the world market.

Always attentive to communication and innovation and with its usual determination, Chinook is present at all the most important world fairs in the sector: Hanover, Köln, Frankfurt, Paris, Bologna, Milan, Singapore, Mexico City.

In more than 40 years, Chinook S.p.a., set up officially with this name in 1973 by Prevosto S.a.s., active in the compressor component assembly sector since 1957, has earned a position as one of the main reference points in the sector.

In 1978, Ms. Silvana Cremonesi, now President of the company, joined Chinook as administrative employee and, stimulated by her determination, confidence in co-workers and a product of excellent quality and unswerving quality, the company continued to grow and gradually expand, reaching its present staff of around 100 employees.

In September 1999, Chinook S.p.a. incorporated Shamal S.r.l., in order to set up a single, more efficient and more dynamic structure.

Until July 200, the Chinook production facility was located at Bruino (Turin) and divided into four plants. A strong upturn in sales made it necessary to increase the number of staff and to combine the four plants in a single facility at Piossasco: 10.000 sq. m with a total surface area of 26,000 sq. m (of which 10,000 sq m of buildings). Another 3,500 sq. m have just been constructed.

Spurred by the personal capacity and tenacity of Chinook's staff, our company has secured a leading position in its specific market sectors and is projected towards new future goals: from the design and setting up of new production lines, with constant improvement of products already in the catalogue.

One of the company's distinctive characteristics has always been its ability to create an innovative and technologically advanced product that guarantees long service life, using top quality materials, processed according to artisan methods and using cast iron instead of aluminum.

Type of technology used in production
Made in Italy is one of the main hallmarks of Group production.
Forefront production technology is guaranteed using NC machines and latest generation robots for mechanical machining, together with sophisticated test equipment.

The company has a large, fully-equipped test room for testing piston and screw type compressors and a metrology room equipped with specific, certified part control equipment.
Obviously, part of the production process (assembly) is carried out by highly experienced workers.

All the machines constructed are labeled indicating the technical data of each product, also guaranteeing traceability of production.


Type of technology used in products
The compressors produced by the Parent Company are intended mainly for industry and professional customers. All the machines comply with European Standards. In particular, the piston compressors on receiver feature simple but efficient technology able to guarantee excellent management of the machine.

Screw compressors are managed by electronic PLCs with a certain level of complexity that assure correct management of the machine according to professional users' (industry) requirements. Furthermore, the electronic controller permits correct scheduling of maintenance and has a complete set of alarms in order to highlight any malfunctions of the machine. It is also possible, optionally, to connect the machine to a modem for remote control.
